I was inspired to write this article after I watched a video on facebook of a Man whose wife and children pitched to buy him an Enchroma glasses on his birthday so that he could see color for the first time in his life.
The Father’s reaction is what touched me the most. Watch the video below.
This dad’s wife and kids all pitched in to buy him Enchroma glasses for his birthday, so he could see color for the first time in his life.

To this man, it was his color blindness that kept him from seeing the beauty around him. He could see every object, things, and nature as we see them, except for the lovely colors that added more expression and beauty.
It made me think and wonder about my own life. Why is it that I don’t feel the same joy I see in that Man every day when I get up from the bed? Why do I complain instead? What is it that stops me from seeing the beauty around me regardless of the struggles and pain?
Maybe it’s not the color blindness that keeps me from it but my ignorance and busyness that blinds my view to take time to see and experience this beautiful life that God has given to me and to be grateful for all the blessings that I tend to overlook.
Apart from nature and its beauty we are also surrounded by beautiful people around us, in our family, neighborhood, communities and so on. There is something special in everybody, that which we discover more deeply when we spend close time with one another.
I read a quote which says
“In a person’s lifetime there may be not more than half a dozen occasions that he can look back to in the certain knowledge that right then, at that moment, there was room for nothing but happiness in his heart.” ― Ernestine Gilbreth Carey
Those moments of happiness are always there; we fail to see them.
True happiness is in the moments, in the present, in the things that surround us right now. Are we watching them closely?
The time spent with our children reading, playing and talking, the time spent looking into eyes of our beloved, watching the sunrise and the sunset, listening to birds chirping, the music in the air, the colors in the things that surround us, and so on; they’re all precious.
Let us free ourselves from ourselves – the ignorance that which surrounds us, the busyness which steals our time and our attention and look at the beauty that surrounds us right now, right here and appreciate God for each of those precious moments.
Let us put on the Enchroma glasses, appreciate the colors in our Life and let our hearts be filled with joy.
