Living in a city like Mumbai can be quite rough times. I usually travel to work on my bike because it saves a lot of my time. However, the rugged or bumpy roads and pollution cause a lot of back pain as well as throat congestion.
To add to my agony, the brakes of my bike failed yesterday and I had to leave it in the garage for repairs which forced me to travel on a crowded train.
If I have to actually sit and think about it, I have good enough reasons to get annoyed or exasperated and become quite grumpy or complain. But I am sure though that I’m not the only one facing this kind of situations. All of us have our own share of struggles and disappointments just like me.
Though it’s a challenge, I’m learning to maintain a positive attitude because I know for sure that only a steady and healthy attitude can get me through the day in a good spirit. If I wallow in self-pity, I’ll keep hitting a dead end by not growing, always being discontented and remain a pessimist.
Someone said that tough Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.
The truth is that we will never arrive at a place of complete sanity and stability because there will always be something or the other that gets in our way. Today it may be the bad traffic that is bothering us, tomorrow it could be something else.
We need to bear in mind that no matter how bad we feel our circumstances maybe, there are others in worst conditions, that always puts everything in the right perspective. In fact, you’ll find you have more reasons to be thankful for.
I like this quote by Thomas Jefferson which says “Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.”
