Setting Goals. Does it really work?

People have different opinions on setting goals. Some believe that the best goal is no goal at all and there are others who religiously set goals every year and work towards accomplishing it. People who don’t set goals believe that it limits them from achieving more and setting a goal restricts them from exploring new opportunities. On the other hand, there are people who never set goals and fail to grow in life.

Let me share what I think about it.

I personally believe in setting goals because I think it enables me to push myself, work harder, and achieve more. My goals have made me a mature person I would say. In my opinion, one should set goals and work on them irrespective of their culture, lifestyle and nationality.

Here are few reasons why you should consider setting goals.

Goals focus your ENERGY

“Energy and persistence conquer all things.”
– Benjamin Franklin

Have you ever come to the end of a year and felt that you achieved nothing and wasted your energy in doing all unwanted things? Either working day in and day out only being stressed out and accomplishing nothing or simply just playing videos games or watching a lot of television or hanging around with friends doing nothing only so that you can kill time?

This often happens when you fail to have goals in your life, when you are clueless about what you want to do and what you want to achieve.

When you don’t have goals your energy is wasted doing useless things but when you set goals for yourself it focuses your energy and helps you achieve all things that are best for your life.

Goals stretch your FAITH

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
– The Bible

This is where you explore yourself. When you set goals it stretches your faith helping you achieve more than what seems possible for you.

My suggestion is don’t set small goals and try to accomplish them quickly as possible rather set big goals and work your way through it till the end.

When you achieve your goals one after the other your faith increases and pushes you to go for bigger ones.

Goals build your CHARACTER

“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
– Helen Keller

Nobody wants to remain a child, everyone wants to grow up.

Look at a child and you will say he is maturing when is he is learning and achieving success in his ability to talk, walk, play etc.

In the same way, your character is developed when you grow in maturity as you achieve success in your daily life and you can only achieve success when you set goals and work towards accomplishing it till the end.

Your goals helps you evolve into a new person that’s better than who you are now. It has worked in my life and will work in yours as well.

Goals give you HOPE

“Hope is the dream of a waking man.”
– Aristotle

We all hope for a great future, a good lifestyle. Hope is the anchor of life to which we all cling to.

In the first place, we can’t really hope for a better future if don’t have a clue of what we want from life.

If we live with pre-conceived thoughts that say “I’ll never be happy”, I’ll never be able to get what I want”, “There is no use of trying”, “I can’t compete” etc then I’m sorry to say that you can never make anything out of life because you’re setting your own limitations and boundaries. We need to learn to break the walls around us which we ourselves build and realize that there’s more to us than we know and there’s much we can do if we put our mind to it.

Hope in God, hope for a better life and a better future.

When you set goals for your life it will give you hope.
